Secondary Student

Hannah Wambui Muigai

Biography by Rachel, Director of Dream Home

Hannah Wambui Muigai is 16 years old, born in the Karambaine Sub location Kiwaroga village in Limuru Kiambu District; a small town in the outskirts of Nairobi.  Hannah or Wambui as they call her in the home was the last born of four of the late Mr. and Mrs. Muigai.  Her parents passed away in 1997 and 1998 as they succumbed to HIV/AIDS.  The four children were left in the care of their grandparents who were old and poor.  They died a few years later.

Wambui and her elder brother George Kariuki were brought to Dream Childrens Home.  They have been in the home ever since, though George has left to live elsewhere after finishing primary school education.

Hannah Wambui is an average student in class eight in Matasia Primary School: a school that is close to the home.  Normally she gets 240 to 250 points out of 500 point system, a average C as they call it in Kenya.

Hannah's goal is to be sponsored by someone so that she may continue on with her school studies.  She has now finished her primary education and would like to attend secondary (high school) education.  One day she aspires to be a nurse.  As reported by the director of Dream Home, Hannah is humble, polite, and obedient.  She is gifted with a wonderful voice and is the lead voice for both the home and Sunday school choir.
                        Hannah's Needs

We do not know for sure whether Hannah will be attending a day school or boarding school at this time.  What we do know is that we need to raise the funds for either one of those opportunities.

Boarding School/First Year: Approx. fees $400 - 450. Includes uniform, shoes, backpack, books and supplies for classes, room and board, tuition-mattress, sheets, blanket, foot locker, start up personal hygiene supplies and medical. An additional $20 per term is appreciated to assist with other personal hygiene products needed.

Day School/First Year: Approx. $300 - 350. Includes tuition, uniform, shoes, backpack, books and school supplies, one meal daily.

If you would like to consider a personal sponsorship with Hannah please contact:

We try to come as close as we can to the actual fees needed for each student but they can only be approximate due to the fluctuating exchange rates.  Fees for Esther can be lower or slightly higher and adjustments will be made accordingly.  Although we prefer to receive the full payment for sponsorships, a three installment payment plan can be arranged.

Hannah is a wonderful girl who has been through much in her short few years.  Being an orphan is not easy in Kenya as there are not many options for you except to live and grow up in an orphanage setting.  Eventually she will reach an age that she will have to leave and with no education, purpose or direction she will most likely fail.  If you cannot take on the responsibility of a sponsorship at this time please contribute to our Education Fund so that we may help all students the best we can.
