In Carol's Own Words My name is Caroline Wanjiru Wangui. I was born on 20th Aug 1990. My hobbies are reading novels, traveling, making new friends, and swimming. My mother has brought me up as a single parent together with my brother and having no permanent job, it has been quite hard and tough for her to cater for my fees and basic needs too. All in all she has made sure that I have had the best out of the best, especially in my education. I went to boarding school from Class 4 until Class 8 where at that time I sat for my national exam and passed well. I managed to get a position in one of the better provincial girls high schools in the country. There, I studied for 4 years with lots of problems. I was in and out of school due not having consistent school fees. I however managed to complete my 4 years. After my national exams, I managed to get a place in one of the better government universities. I had a grade B which was above average and the cut off points to join the government universities.
Still having financial difficulties, my loving mum has not been able to complete my high school fees and I cannot get my certificate until its completed. However I am grateful to God that I am now in my first year, first semester in the University of Egerton. I am studying for a Bachelors Degree in Arts doing Economics, Sociology and Mathematics. My interests are to work in a bank as I have a passion for numbers. At this time my entry into the university has been made possible by the help of fund raising and prayer. An amount of money was raised that will take me through the first semester. I believe I will make it through and there is a promising future for me and nothing will hinder me from it. |
